COVID – 19 Update

To all Cedarbrook Members:

Cedarbrook Swim and Tennis Club is closed to everyone effective Monday, March 23, 2020 in accordance with Governor Hogan's order. There is no entry to the back gate or use of the property at all until further notice. If you have questions please send an email to cedarbrookboard@gmail.com.

 
The Board will continue to monitor the current situation with COVID-19 and will follow all guidelines and directives set forth by Governor Hogan and Montgomery County. We will continue to update our members through email and this website. Please check back here on regular basis for updates.

 

 
 
 
Employment Opportunities at Cedarbrook Club for the Upcoming 2020 Season

 Snack Bar:

(Seasonal) The Seahawk Snack Shack has limited positions for attendants.  Prefer (but not limited too) applicants that are at least 16 years old.  Looking for courteous individuals that are tidy, responsive to window orders and accurate with money and inventory tracking.   Cash handling and being able to follow protocols on your own is needed.  Maturity and good decision-making skills a must.  

There are two shifts per day.  12-4 and 4-8.   Each employee will have 2 or 3 shifts a week and will work those same shifts every week.   When applying please indicate if you would prefer to work 2 or 3 days a week, which shifts you would prefer, and on which days.  

If there is a time where you would be unable to work your shift you will be responsible for finding a replacement from the list of other employees.

We are looking for 5 workers with 8-12 hours weekly and 3-4 substitutes who will be able to pick up shifts as needed.

 Swim Team:

Cedarbrook Assistant Coach

The Cedarbrook Seahawks are seeking a qualified Assistant Coach for the Summer 2020 MCSL Swim Season. We are looking for an enthusiastic coach with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to help swimmers set and reach their goals. Applicants should be able to motivate swimmers of all ages and abilities and have the energy to help lead our team from Memorial Day weekend through All‐Star Weekend at the end of July. Cedarbrook will compete in Division F in 2020.

 

Assistant Coach Primary Responsibilities:

● Build team spirit, unity and sportsmanship

● Work with Head Coach to plan, supervise and coach team practices

(morning and afternoon), includes on deck and in-water coaching to help

swimmers develop

● Attend and help organize and conduct all “A” and “B” meets and team

social events, including weekly spirit events

● Work with the head coach, other assistant coaches, and parent volunteers in

organizing all “A” and “B” meets

● Communicate effectively with other coaching staff, team parents and reps

● Be familiar with MCSL rules and procedures

Qualifications:

● Current lifeguard and CPR certification required

● Prior swim instructor/coach experience preferred

● Prior swim experience (e.g., college, summer, club, or high school

swimming)

 Salary is competitive and based on experience. Cedarbrook Kitty Hawk Coaches

 

The Cedarbrook Seahawk swim team has coaching opportunities for the Kiddie Hawks group.  We are looking for candidates who are interested in working with young swimmers during the summer season.

Coach duties will include:

Providing swim instruction to the pre-team swimmers (8 years and younger)

*Instruction will be during morning and afternoon practice sessions

*Stroke and developmental demonstrations will be done on deck as well as in the water

Providing constructive and encouraging feedback to swimmers

Attending mini meet functions including pep rallies and social events 

 

Preferred candidates will have previous coaching and instruction experience.  Competitive swim team experience is helpful.  A qualified candidate enjoys working and motivating children with a variety of swim abilities.  All Kiddie Hawk coaches are expected to demonstrate positive leadership and sportsmanship as mentors for the younger swimmers.

The Cedarbrook Board is not a part of the process of who is hired by the pool management company. If there are issues, please contact them directly.

 

Other Opportunities:

Cedarbrook has a number of needs for seasonal volunteers.  This is the perfect opportunity for old and young to keep our Club a great one.  Volunteer hours may be able to count for SSL if the project/work is pre-approved.  There are needs all over the Club for volunteers, here are some current projects that need the right volunteer:

New pool management for 2020

 The Cedarbrook Board is pleased to announce that we have reached agreement to partner with Pool Personnel Inc. (PPI) as our new pool management company for the 2020 season. With just 4 short months remaining until we start the season, we wanted to share this news and a welcome letter from John Currie. For those interested in learning more about working as a lifeguard for PPI, please see the information in the letter. We’ll have more to share as we get closer to May but for now enjoy the winter!

My name is John Currie and I am excited to introduce myself and my company, Pool Personnel, Inc. We are thrilled to be coming on board as the new management contractor at Cedarbrook and are looking forward both to this season and to building a long-term relationship with the community.

Our first priority for 2020 is putting together a great staff, and we welcome the opportunity to meet those who have worked at the club in the past as well as those looking to join the team for their first season. A little about us: Pool Personnel manages a dozen pools in the Bethesda, Potomac, Rockville and Kensington areas. Like many of you, I grew up at my neighborhood pool and started lifeguarding and coaching as soon as I could. I kept lifeguarding and coaching throughout college and then during my summer breaks from teaching at Norwood School. I took over the company in 2007 and this year stepped aside from full time teaching to focus exclusively on the pools (although I do still sub at Norwood on occasion).
